FK Irons Coil Machine Questions:

What's the difference between machines?
The difference between machines is how they are setup. All machines are built with the same components. No machine is better than the other. All machines will push any type of needle configuration and suit for any style upon proper tuning. That’s why we offer tuning options when you buy your machine. The shape, color and material of the frame will not determine difference in performance.

What is the right voltage to run an FKI machine?
The right voltage is the voltage that your technique, stroke, and  tuning requires. Usually FKI machines run at lower voltage than other machines. People shouldn’t stick to preset parameters and experiment to what suits each artist the best. I personally run my machines between 5 and 9 volts, again depending the type of job I’m doing. Steel frames usually run at just a bit lower voltage than aluminum.

What is the best power supply I can use with an FK machine?
Anything of a fair quality. Personally we recommend Eikon® PS products, but any good power supply made with good components should be good to go. The cleaner the current is, the better the performance and machine life will be.

Can I adapt an FKI coil machine with RCA connectors?
Of course, in fact we offer RCA ready machines. Make sure you make that selection, it's located at the selected machine's page.

Spektra Rotary Questions:

Which stroke wheel should I order?
The stroke wheel recommendation will depend on how you intend to use your Spektra Rotary.  We currently offer 4 different stroke sizes, 2.5m, 3.2mm, 3.6mm, and 4mm.  The 3.2mm is our most widely used stroke wheel for a good “all-around” machine that has the ability to line, shade, and pack in color.  Our 3.6mm is also a good all-around machine for those artists who prefer a longer stroke liner.  2.5mm is mostly recommended for black and gray work while the 4mm stroke is recommended for shading/ color packing machines.

What if I want to try different stroke sizes?
The stroke wheels of the Spektra Machines are fully interchangeable and don’t require the purchase of an additional motor.  All stroke wheel sizes are for sale on our website for $25, and each machine comes with the key to change them so that you’re able to find the right stroke for your machine.

What is the best power supply I can use with a Spektra Rotary machine?
As with our coil line you can use anything of a fair quality. While we only carry Eikon and Critical brand power supplies, most newer power supplies are rotary compatible. If you have specific questions regarding whether or not your power supply is suitable for use with rotary machines please contact the power supply manufacturer.

All Eikon and Critical power supplies listed for sale on our website are compatable with the Spektra with the exception of the Eikon 250 as noted on its product page.

Distribution Inquiries:

How can I become an FK Irons distributor?
We are very selective regarding who sells our machines. In order to be considered as a distributor, you need to prove that your company is established in the business and solid references  that you or your company only sells to professional artists. We will decline any request from suppliers or individuals that sell to the general public.  For distribution inquiries please contact our distributions manager Kayleigh Tanthorey through Orders@fkirons.com.
