All machines are guaranteed, and come with a life warranty against manufacturing defects.  For further information on machine warranty and servicing please visit the "Service your Machine" section of the site.

Please note: the life warranty does not cover items subject to general 'wear and tear' such as springs/ contact screws/ armature bars, nor does it cover neglect or misuse of the machine including dropping, over lubricating, or using the machine for anything other than its intended purpose.  The Maxon Motors of the Spektra Halo are covered under warranty against manufacturer's defects for 1 year after purchase. We will still service all FK Irons and Spektra machines, but a small fee will apply for all issues not covered under warranty.

FK Irons Coil Machine Questions:

What's the difference between machines?
The difference between machines is how they are setup. All machines are built with the same components. No machine is better than the other. All machines will push any type of needle configuration and suit for any style upon proper tuning. That’s why we offer tuning options when you buy your machine. The shape, color and material of the frame will not determine difference in performance.

What is the right voltage to run an FKI machine?
The right voltage is the voltage that your technique, stroke, and  tuning requires. Usually FKI machines run at lower voltage than other machines. People shouldn’t stick to preset parameters and experiment to what suits each artist the best. I personally run my machines between 5 and 9 volts, again depending the type of job I’m doing. Steel frames usually run at just a bit lower voltage than aluminum.

What is the best power supply I can use with an FK machine?
Anything of a fair quality. Personally we recommend Eikon® PS products, but any good power supply made with good components should be good to go. The cleaner the current is, the better the performance and machine life will be.

Can I adapt an FKI coil machine with RCA connectors?
Of course, in fact we offer RCA ready machines. Make sure you make that selection, it's located at the selected machine's page.

What are the different machine tuning options?

Conventional Liner - Our Conventional Liner machine is our most popular machine style, and is meant to be used as an everyday “workhorse” style of machine for all around tattooing. This machine will typically be used for tight 3rls-14rls.

Cutback Liner - The Cutback Liner machine is specifically tuned to run faster than our conventional liner, and is great for small intricate detailed work such as eyelashes, hairs, or mapping in quick outlines. This machine is to be used with single needle up to tight 5rls, but is not recommended for larger groupings. This set up is only available on the Exactor III Frame.

Power Liner - The Power Liner tuning is made for thick, bold, traditional and new school style outlines and for pushing large rounds. This machine is best used for 9rl groupings and larger.

Soft Shader - The Soft Shader is our most versitile everyday shading machine for both black and grey and color work. This machine will accept any mag size up to 55, and is great for blending areas of color with multiple passes without causing excess trauma to the skin.

Cutback Shader - The Cutback Shader is tuned to run faster than the standard Soft Shader, and is meant to be used with larger magnum groupings for very smooth color or light black and gray blends. This set up is only available on the Exactor III Frame.

Color Packer - Our Color Packer set up is tuned similarly to our Soft Shader set up with a heavier armature bar, and is meant for quickly filling in large areas of fully saturated color making few passes over the skin.

Spektra Halo Questions:

Which stroke wheel should I use?
The stroke wheel recommendation will depend on how you intend to use your Spektra Rotary.  We currently offer 4 different stroke sizes, 2.5m, 3.2mm, 3.6mm, and 4mm.  The 3.2mm is our most widely used stroke wheel for a good “all-around” machine that has the ability to line, shade, and pack in color.  Our 3.6mm is also a good all-around machine for those artists who prefer a longer stroke liner.  2.5mm is mostly recommended for black and gray work while the 4mm stroke is recommended for shading/ color packing machines.

What if I want to try different stroke sizes?
The stroke wheels of the Spektra Machines are fully interchangeable and don’t require the purchase of an additional motor.  All stroke wheel sizes are included with the machine, however if additional stroke wheels are needed we also offer them for sale on our website for $25, and each machine comes with the key to change them so that you’re able to find the right stroke for your machine.

What is the best power supply I can use with a Spektra Rotary machine?
As with our coil line you can use anything of a fair quality. While we only carry Eikon and Critical brand power supplies, most newer power supplies are rotary compatible. If you have specific questions regarding whether or not your power supply is suitable for use with rotary machines please contact the power supply manufacturer.

All Eikon and Critical power supplies listed for sale on our website are compatable with the Spektra.

What is the right voltage to run an Spektra Halo?
The right voltage can be affected by the your technique, hand speed, needle grouping, etc... but usually Spektra machines run best between 7-9 volts.

How do I autoclave my machine?
The bodies of the Spektra Halo are fully autoclavable with no disassembly required. Simply remove the MotorBolt from the Machine Body, bag your machine body, and run through a standard autoclave cycle. Do not ultrasonic wash.

Can I use my Halo MotorBolt in any other machines?

The Spektra Edge and Spektra Direkt machines run off of a HexDrive system so, while we still use the same high quality motor, the Halo motor is not interchangable with these machines. You are able to use your Halo motor with the new Halo 2.

If I buy a multiple items (like a machine and a grip) in the same color are they guaranteed to match?
Due to the anodizing process there may be slight variations from piece to piece so we are unable to guarantee a 100% match, however, we do our best to ensure that all colors are consistant as possible. There may be greater variations in specialty colors and multi-color processes.

Distribution Inquiries:

How can I become an FK Irons distributor?
We are very selective regarding who sells our machines. In order to be considered as a distributor, you need to prove that your company is established in the business and solid references that you or your company only sells to professional artists. We will decline any request from suppliers or individuals that sell to the general public, or any supplier that carries counterfiet products of any legitimate brand.  For distribution inquiries please complete our Distribution Survey here, and our distribution accounts manager will contact you within 24 hours.
