ARTISTBIOGRAPHY
Italy - Mambo Tattoo Shop English: I am Mattia, artistically known as Mambo. I was born in Giussano on November 3, 1990. The first time I had to deal with tattoos I was 16. A dear friend of mine had started getting his whole arm tattooed in a realistic style by a local tattoo artist. I went with him because I was curious to see how it worked, but honestly it wasn't at that time that I decided to start tattooing, on the contrary, I was quite impressed Two years later, after finishing art high school, I woke up one day and, without knowing anything about tattoos, I decided to go to Milan to Sunskin to buy the kit to start tattooing. I came home and tattooed a rose on my thigh. At that moment I realized that tattooing was cool and that I could have fun for a while, but I didn't think it could become my job. I started tattooing without setting any goals, then things just came to me. In 2016 I invented my personal style, for which I am now recognized, and I called it “destrutturato”. During my studies, I always worked as a graphic designer for Brianza and Milanese nights, doing flyers and graphic propaganda for clubs. I have always been interested in the world of graphics, logos, icons, etc.. The simplicity of logos helped me to create my destrutturato style, because transforming an image into a logo means simplifying it by keeping the basic lines but making any subject equally understandable by everyone. So this simplification thing has always stayed with me and I used it in tattooing both when I was doing the Japanese and traditional style and then for my new style. There was never a real research behind the destrutturato style, it was born by chance from a design I had done. The design in question was an ice cream that I had to prepare for a girl, I improvised and luckily she really liked it and I tattooed it for her. The tattoo was successful right away, I got many requests for other tattoos in this style and it slowly became my personal tattoo style. In April 2018 I opened my shop, the Mambo Tattoo Shop, in Meda, the city where I live. It was a big step for my career. The decision was born out of the need to have a personal space where I could feel comfortable and organize my work without depending on anyone. I certainly have a lot more responsibilities but every day I feel at home. Italian: Sono Mattia, artisticamente noto come Mambo.
